One of the difficult aspects of improving your Legal English skills is learning the vocabulary - the lawyer's lexicon. Each module includes a review of these words by using flashcards. This is a great way to practice. By quickly discarding the words you know well, you will be able to identify and then concentrate on the words you find challenging. You can review these flash cards unlimited times.
Video Lessons & Quizzes
Each module has several short video lessons that discuss new material. After the lessons, there are interactive quizzes to test your knowledge. This is a great way to identify your weak points and learn where you need to review. If a lesson, or one part of a lesson, is challenging for you, simply go back and review it and then re-take the quiz. You can take the quizzes as many times as you like.
Case Law for Reading Comprehension
Each module includes a case. These cases are what Common Law lawyers use to understand the law and make legal arguments. You will:

Assessment after each Module

About The Instructor,
Timothy Barrett
Timothy Barrett is the instructor of the e-courses at 4 Legal English. Originally from the United States, he has been a law professor in Georgia for the past several years.
Professor Barrett has taught Legal English to over 1,000 students over the past several years. He has developed a Legal English curriculum of four courses for bachelor of law students at the largest private law school in Georgia. He has taught Legal English to practicing attorneys and judges, as well as TOLES preparation courses.
Prof. Barrett’s current research focuses on fields affecting the future, such as artificial intelligence, smart cities, data & privacy. He has taught courses in World Trade Organization Law, Business Law & Ethics, Human Rights, and US Legal System. He is also involved in international moot court competitions, both as a judge and a coach.
Before moving to Georgia, he was a practicing attorney in the United States, with significant courtroom and jury trial experience. He has a background in civil law, working in private practice, as well as in criminal law, as a prosecutor and as a decorated police officer with the New York Police Department.
